Exit Slip, Week 3 Lab, 9-21-10

The "Get off the fence" activity that we did in today's lab really struck me. I really enjoyed seeing our classmates opinions on the statement: "Technology makes life more difficult for teachers." It was interesting to see how others felt about this statement, especially considering we are all going to be future educators. I was also strongly impacted by the quote that Professor Boyer talked about during our discussion of this activity. He told us about a quote that went something like this: "No one becomes an expert until they have experinced 10,000 hours.." This quote calmed me down in so many ways. I don't have a specific way I want to teach my students & I thought this was a bad thing! I am continuously learning & adjusting the way I want to do things in my classroom & this quote confirmed that this was OK.

Another thing I really took away from today's class was the idea of what a reliable website is. It was helpful to see what other tips people will give to their students; there was definitely things I didn't think of. It was also espeically surprising & frightening to see that the Martin Luther King website (which is quite unreliable) was 3rd on the list!!!
