Exit Slip, Week 4 Lab, 9-28-10

Today we had a discussion about Chapter 2 in "Rethinking Education." One thing we were introduced to was a website called "BrainPOP." I found this website to be very interesting. It was definitely something I could see myself using in all aspects of my classroom. For example, I found a game that dealt with "Equations & variables." Considering I hope to teach older elementary or middle school, this would be a site I could use to help my students grasp this topic. On the other hand, there were alot of steps that had to be taken in order to get to the actual game. I feel as though this might get distractive to students or students may get lost. This is one concern I have with using technology/websites/computer games within my classroom.

Another thing I found to be truly helpful was the SMARTExchange. It was a very good resource & extremely exciting to see there are other lessons out there that are specific to state standards.
