Screencasting: To do or not to do?

I exerted a high amount of preparation for this screencast. I took the time to sign up for a Dweeber account and I took a lot of time for my SWOT analysis.  I made sure to look for the most important strengths of this cool tool to present to my peers and I also looked for things that could be changed on the website. I also made sure to write out a full script before recording my screencast so that I wouldn’t make mistakes. The few times that I did make (large) mistakes, I re-recorded so that it would sound professional and would be easy for my peers to understand. I truly thought this project was going to take me a long time and it really didn’t! It was a very fun and simple project that can be very beneficial in the future!
There are a lot of ways that recording and sharing a screencast can impact my future as an educator. The first one is that I can bookmark all of these screencasts in my Delicious account and I can save them to look at them in the future. If I ever decided to use one of these cool tools in my classroom I can simply look at one of my peers’ screencasts to see if it would be beneficial and worth my time. I can also use the procedure of screencasting with my future students. If I am introducing a new tool in my classroom I can screencast how it works and then show my students. This would be beneficial to all students, but especially students who are visual learners. They can continuously play the screencast over and over, pause, and rewind the screencast until they have fully understood how to use the tool. This was a great experience for me to have!
