Exit Slip, Week 5, 10-5-10

This week we began with a presentation about the skeptics & arguments about technology in the classroom. One thing that I really took away from this presentation was the article that Abe presented about the test scores. I thought it was really important that even though technology is advancing daily, it is still vital to have a teacher in the classroom to motivate the students to learn. It also reinforces that in the future, when I have my own classroom, it is important to remember that the technology won't do the teaching; the technology will simply reinforce the motivation I am giving to my students.

We also looked at our technology inquiry questions and it was very helpful to see the way that Professor Boyer critiqued these questions. He gave various ways to word specific questions such as saying "enhance student learning" rather than "benefit" because we are truly assessed about how well we help students learn. I took this away because it made me think of in the future, when I am writing resumes, cover letters, or am in an interview, I will have to be conscious of the wording that I use.
