There have been various people throughout my life that has motivated me in many ways. The first & foremost would be the influence of my mom & sisters. I am extremely close with my mother & both of my older sisters & I have always wanted to follow in their footsteps. My mom motivated me by continuously encouraging me to do my best, but she ALWAYS told me that she loves me for who I am. She was never mad if I got a bad grade as long as I had "tried my hardest." My sisters have always motivated me by being there for me in times of need. I went to my sisters for everything in life & they continuously reminded me to be happy with whom I was & that I didn't need to change to please anyone else. The next person in my life who had a great impact on me was my 3rd grade teacher. Her name was Mrs. Petras & she is one of the main reasons I want to be a teacher. She was always praising our class for our good work & she never gave up on us. She continuously sought out what we needed individually & fought to provide us with what we needed. Last, but certainly not least, I had an advisor recently in my life who has motivated me to continue in life & do my best. I was extremely close with her & she motivated me by modeling/demonstrating the same aspects she expected of me.
One way I plan to motivate my students is by demonstrating & modeling what I expect of them. I plan to share all of my experiences with them & show them that I make mistakes too. I think it’s extremely important to let your students explore, experience, & learn, but I also think that there needs to be some sense of guidance. I also want them to know that they should be proud of whom they are & that they don't need to change to please others.
