Exit Slip, Week 8, 10-26-10

One thing that really impacted me today was the survey that the discussion guides provided us with today. I thought this was a great and new aspect of a presentation that had not been introduced to us and it provided a lot of great discussion. It was also very beneficial because it was an immediate response and we were able to see the percentages of the various ways people answered the questions. At the same time, I would be very cautious when using a survey like this because questions can be interpreted very differently to different people and it does not give a lot of room for explanation or discussion.
Another thing that was very helpful today was when we talked about various tips and tricks for Interactive Whiteboards. Although I knew about a few of these tips, I did not know about all of them. I really liked that we discussed this because this is something I feel I may be using all the time in my future classroom. It is very likely that by the time I graduate many schools will have interactive whiteboards, which means it is very likely I will have one in my classroom. It is helpful to know these various tips to creating a whiteboard lesson because I am sure I will have to create at least a few in my future. One thing I really liked was the infinite cloner. This was something I had seen in one of my classmate’s interactive whiteboard lesson and I was very intrigued to find out how to use it! I will hopefully we teaching an upper elementary classroom and they work a lot with money; the infinite cloning tool can be very helpful in lessons like this.
