Creating an Interactive Whiteboard Lesson!

I exerted a lot of effort into designing my Interactive Whiteboard Lesson. I began by finding a topic that I was interested in teaching; I chose the topic of weather. Also, from the other classes I am enrolled in, I know that this is a topic that is currently being taught in a second grade classroom in a Stevens Point elementary school. Then, before creating my lesson, I made sure to find a standard that would be appropriate for the topic I chose. When creating my lesson I made sure to find activities that would be simple enough for second graders to understand, but would also begin teaching the basics of weather. I also found a great Youtube video to incorporate into my Interactive Whiteboard Lesson. Once I finished my lesson I was excited to hear the feedback that I would receive from my peers. Once we were able to peer review our classmates’ lessons I truly took the feedback I received to heart; I made a lot of the changes that my peers encouraged me to make. I moved slides around, added more activities, and took out activities that my peers didn’t think were beneficial, etc. It was helpful to have this peer feedback before actually turning in our final project.

Designing and sharing my IWB Lesson impacts my future as an educator in many ways. Hopefully, as an educator I will have an IWB in my classroom. If this does come true I hope to incorporate the IWB as much as possible into the lessons and activities that I do within my classroom. By being given the opportunity to create an IWB lesson truly prepares me for using this tool when I am teaching in my own classroom. I learned many tips and tricks to SMART Notebook & I was able to make mistakes here, and now, so that I don’t have to make those same mistakes in the future.
