Exit Slip, Week 10, 11-9-10

Today we started class with a discussion about chapter 8 which focused on “How Schools can cope with new technologies.” The first activity that the group had us participate in was to discuss the positive and negatives of the New Curriculum Designs. I thought this was a really great activity because it gave me the chance to see and hear about what my peers thought on these various topics. It also gave me a chance to see the other side or other opinions because I was truly against these new changes. I also appreciate that Professor Boyer took some extra time to talk about this topic because it was such a controversial issue!
We then talked about various tips and tricks for Scratch and I thought this was extremely helpful. I had never used Scratch before this (like many of my peers) so hearing these tips and tricks was very useful. It was also helpful to hear these tips and tricks because it showed more expectations that Professor Boyer was looking for.
Last, but certainly not least, we talked about our Technology Inquiry Question. It was helpful to see and clarify things that we can do to better our annotated bibliographies and wiki pages. This will affect we as a future educator because it has only stressed to me how important writing “drafts” are. It is important for students to receive feedback before submitting a final project/draft/ or essay.
